Yes. Age can affect whether you may rent, whether a young-renter fee applies, and which vehicle classes are available. A corporate rate changes any of those rules only if the company program or account terms say so. Check the pickup location, authorized account, vehicle class, and final quote.
Separate the age rules
A discounted base rate is not an age exemption. Budget says its minimum age is 21 in most U.S. states and 18 in Michigan and New York. At corporate-operated locations, employees using an employer BCD for company business must be at least 21. Select corporate customers may be exempt from the underage fee, but Budget directs renters to confirm eligibility with their account representative. Licensee-owned and non-U.S. locations may differ.
Hertz Business Rewards offers a narrower example. Its Young Renter Fee waiver covers qualifying U.S. business rentals for renters over 20, or from 18 in Michigan and New York. The waiver excludes its Adrenaline, Prestige, and Dream collections; standard rental qualifications still apply. Personal Gold+ membership alone does not establish this company benefit.
Eligibility and fees can even differ under the same state rule. New York requires rentals to otherwise qualified licensed drivers aged 18 or older but permits an under-25 surcharge. Enterprise describes age-based fees and vehicle restrictions; National describes location-based youthful surcharges. Verify the booking
- Use each driver's age on the pickup date, the exact station, dates, trip purpose, and vehicle class.
- Confirm the traveler may use the employer account, then check its age benefit separately from the station's eligibility rules.
- Compare the total quote, including any young-renter fee, taxes, location charges, mileage, and options. The FTC recommends comparing total cost rather than the advertised base price.
- Keep the confirmation and check that any promised waiver appears in the rental agreement before accepting the car.
